Stick to One Style? No Thanks

Through my life (so far) I have gone through periods of creating with acrylic, pastels, a weaving loom, leathercraft, baking, basket making, poetry, embroidery, sewing, beading, wood caving, painting animal skulls, jewelry making, collage, pottery, photography, sculpture, and watercolor.

My art studio is a dragons hoard nest of various random supplies and projects, fun memories and ideas (I highly encourage building your own creative nest). And the longest I have stuck with a singular medium has been watercolor over the last four years, as I do favor it. But labeling myself as a watercolorist just isn't fully who I am as an artist, at least not a happy artist....

And that's okay! Like anything in our lives, different approaches are needed for resolving different situations. And different artistic ideas are meant to flow with different mediums. It's not being inconsistent or indecisive about what you like or want- it's about living freely as a creative. And I really want to learn to embrace this fully. So on that note, thank you for sharing in my wildly varied creative journey, because living as that authentically creative person is terrifying. We're all told that without a solid niche of marketing we can't possibly succeed as artists or businesses. But I want to prove that you can show up as yourself and thrive in art, business, or life. Because I don't need a niche, I have my audience to share this journey with already - you!
